CPA Offers: Play It Fair Or Get Out Of The Game

Saturday, June 27th, 2009

Being terribly unregulated, the CPA networks attract some affiliates to promote CPA offers who end up abusing the system. To find out how bad this trend has become, all one needs to do is visit some of the affiliate forums where these cyber thugs gather to share their latest scheme. Their idea of making money is to cheat the CPA network by generating leads unethically. But what these affiliates do not realize is that the game they engage in causes everyone to lose, including, and especially, them.

Most affiliates are honest and do very well with CPA offers; they earn their money the old fashion way – the ethical way.

The problem begins with a group of careless affiliates whose ethics sucks. These are those affiliates who rather spend their creative juices on finding ways to generate bogus leads than play it fair.  They have no qualms about building a landing page using fake testimonials and making outrageous claims about an offer. They are so blinded by their greed that nothing else is important to them.

But like all thieves, they end up hiding or running.  Living in constant fear of being caught, they try to keep a low profile, moving form one network to the next. But once caught they will be banned and will not get paid. And once banned from one network, they are practically banned by all, as they are put on the Black list that is shared amongst most networks. The only way such an affiliate can ever re-join those networks is come up with a new identity.

And although the cheaters are the minority, the consequences of their action affect everyone. Here is why: When a network sends the advertiser fake leads, the advertiser can choose not to pay the network. To make up for the loss, the network punishes all their affiliates by shaving off a certain percentage of the actual leads that those affiliates generate. In fact the cheaters’ phenomenon has become so prevalent that shaving off 10% or so is now the standard with most networks.

Until all the CPA networks come up with an efficient system that is able to track how each affiliate generates his/her leads, the rest of those who promote CPA offers the honest way will have to pay the price. The cheaters will do a world of good to themselves and others by playing fair. They must be told in the clearest terms to either play it fair or get out of the game.

Affiliate Marketing: Information Overload and the Importance of Staying Focused

Thursday, June 18th, 2009

Every week thousands of people from all over the globe enter the online arena with the intention of making a living as affiliate marketers. But the sad truth is that only a tiny fraction will ever succeed. Most will disappear within the first year while the rest will hang around until they no longer can afford it. The two main reasons are Information overload and lack of focus.

Never before in the history of the online marketing was it easier to make
money online than it is nowadays. The abundance of courses, mentors and
tools that exist today did not  exist five or even two years ago. And maybe that is where the problem lies — too much of everything hitting our mail boxes, including scams and tons of garbage information.

Once a newcomer signs up for an offer, his or her email address begins to circulate. No matter how many times ‘they’ promise that your email will not be shared, most often than not, it will. Suddenly offers from people you never heard of begin to land in your box on a daily basis.

“Make a $1,000 Dollars In Your Sleep” or “Get Hoards of Free Traffic,” and similar headlines are very tempting to the newbie and could be very difficult to resist. And…

To make matters even worse, that newbie who has recently joined an online mentoring course, a program that promised: “This is the only course you will ever need in order to be successful,” begins to get other offers, in the form of “I highly recommend…,” from the very same person/guru who had sold him the first and promised him/her: “This is the only course you will ever need in order to be successful.”

Being inexperienced, these newcomers don’t even know that when they purchase the product, the guru is getting a cut from everything he or she “highly recommend.” Trusting that the guru knows what’s best for their students, they purchase and delve into the new program, way before they even had a chance to go over the first. And while exploring that new offer/course/software, the next one hits their mail box.

These newcomers arrive to the online arena totally unprepared. They trust, spend money, explore everything and end up learning nothing. Soon after starting their journey they begin to suffer from Information Overload and, hence, lack of focus.

Making a living online need not be very difficult. And under the tutelage of a responsible instructor it is not.  Luckily there are still a few mentors out there who are responsible enough to give their students ample time to learn, digest and master the first course before they approach them with another offer. A good teacher stresses the importance of focusing on one subject/technique at the time before moving on.

CPA Offers and How to Select the Winners

Monday, June 15th, 2009

Unless there is a demand for a specific CPA offer, that offer is of no value to you. Therefore you must be very careful with the offers you select. The two things that work against you with CPA offers are traffic and time. You want to make sure that the keywords associated with the offer can generate high traffic. CPA offers may have a short life span. Therefore, the sooner in the game you begin to promote a good offer the better.

Before wasting your time by building a whole campaign around an offer, the first thing you want to find out is whether there is a demand for the product. Here is how you do it:
Make a list of the most relevant keywords to your product. Once you have that list head to https://adwords.google.com/select/KeywordToolExternal and determine the search volume for each of the key words in your list.

You want to make sure the approximate monthly number of people who search for you main, most relevant, keywords for the offer are high. Keywords with a motherly search volume of 200 or so are not what you are looking for. You want to see a monthly volume of at least 7 or 8 thousands and the higher the better.

If you are promoting a Caribbean vacation offer here are some of the keywords and the monthly search volume for each.
Caribbean vacation                  673,500
Caribbean vacations                   90,500
Caribbean vacation deals            49,500
Caribbean vacation packages      27,100
Caribbean vacation package         8,100

Now that is something worth going for.  Sometimes you will find that the most relevant keywords to an offer have a monthly search volume in the hundreds of thousands and even in the millions. That’s great! You have just discovered that there is tons of traffic out there. Another way to gauge demand is by using this wonderful free tool by Google: http://www.google.com/insights/search
With it you can compare the search volume across categories, regions and time frames.

And now that you found that the offer is in demand it is your job to generate that traffic to your offer. This is the time to put together a campaign, launch it and see how well you do with it. It is always a good idea to simultaneously launch the same campaign on the three major search engines: Google, Yahoo and MSN. Another good idea is to test the same offer from different CPA networks.

CPA Offers: What Are They and How Do They Work?

Tuesday, June 2nd, 2009

The acronym CPA stands for Cost Per Action. CPA Offers are in most cases offers where a person is asked to fill out a form. Different companies (advertisers) require different information. Some are happy with only a zip code or an email address while others collect an entire profile. Your role as an affiliate (publisher) is to act as the middle man between the Advertiser and the CPA network.

You will be the one who goes out there, drive traffic to the offer and get paid every time an action is taken. Your commission is paid by the CPA network. Here is an example of how this works: the CPA networks charges the advertiser $4.50 per lead, the CPA pays you $3.50  for every lead you generate. The difference, a $1.00 in this case, is what the network keeps. And that’s what keeps them in business and in most cases very profitable.

You can expect to earn anywhere between $0.25 and $3.75 anytime you get a person to fill out a short form with, let’s say, a zip code or an email address. For longer forms where lots of information is required some companies pay up to $150.

The appeal of CPA offers is tremendous very much because these offers convert in a much higher rate than others where a prospect has to purchase something. Very often these offers provide an incentive in a form of a free download in exchange for information, hence the higher rate of conversions.

You can begin by applying to several CPA networks, bearing in mind that some are more stringent than others. In your application you want to appear as professional as you possibly can. The largest networks will not approve you unless you are able to convince them you are experienced enough to drive quality traffic to their offers.
If your application is not approved by some, don’t lose heart. Keep submitting to others until you are approved by several. In time, as you gain enough experience, you will be easily accepted to any CPA network you desire.

Once approved by a network you will be assigned a dedicated affiliate manager. This person is your best contact. Make sure you establish good relationship with him or her. They are there to help you find the most popular and best converting offers, as well as place your conversion codes on the advertiser’s success page. Once you begin to generate a good amount of traffic to any offer you can then feel free to contact your affiliate manager and negotiate a higher commission.

CPA offers are becoming very popular amongst affiliate marketers. There are practically hundreds, if not thousands, affiliate networks out there. Some of them have over a 1,000 different offers in different markets (verticals). You don’t need to be a genius to promote CPA offers, but you do need to know what you are doing. I recently came across a course that is, in my opinion, the best out there. Not only does it teach you how to promote CPA offers, but it also reveals secrets that until now have been guarded very tightly by the big dogs. You can learn all about it by visiting: CPA-Arbitrage

What a great affiliate program to promote from clickbank,or anywhere, if anybody knows who clickbank is?

Tuesday, June 30th, 2009

The key to having a successful affiliate program is the positioning. There are many great products and services that are offered through affiliate marketing. They way to be in a great position so that those seeking the product or service of choice can find you is through website building. I am not just speaking of purchasing a website in hopes that people will find you either. I am speaking of building a website around a specific niche and attracting people through valuable content that is relative to what you offer. I personally use a web host that specializes in this topic. You can get an idea of how to better market and choose and affiliate program that fits you. It may also help to spark some ideas of your own. http://affiliatemarketing.sitesell.com/UnstoppableDreams.html

What are the top business certifications to get after earning a bachelor’s degree?

Tuesday, June 30th, 2009

I am going to be getting a bachelor’s degree in economics and want to continue my education after that, I am aware of the MBA degree as well as a CPA (which at least in California, where I live, it is possible to get without actually receiving a bachelor’s in accounting). I am wondering, other than an MBA what are the top certifications to get in the business world that lead to an overall better career, I haven’t decided yet exactly what type of career I want to go into so anything having to do with finance, accounting, management, marketing and so on would be interesting and I think this may be of use to others who are looking to continue their education after college.

The best way to have a great career is to make straight A’s and join a snooty business fraternity. They get the best interviews with all the best companies. You have to start at the top to ever finish there. Good luck.

I’m a CPA, and if I were 20 yrs old again, I would get the best experience I could, and save every dollar I could until I could start my own small business. You don’t get rich working for "the man".

Small Business website question…?

Tuesday, June 30th, 2009

I am going into business for myself full-time and have some questions about creating a website. I do writing of all sorts, editing, proofreading, manuscript typing, etc. If it has to do with words, I do it. Do I need more than one website or can I combine all my services in one site? If I can combine all my services what is the best way to display them so it creates easy navigation? I only know html and css but I am trying to learn php. What is the best way to market my services to people in affiliate programs?

You can put all your services onto one website. For example, your main page would list your services such as editing, proofreading, manuscript writing etc. Then if you want to provide specific information on each type of service you would create a page within that website with the specific information.

And you don’t have to know PHP to create your website. You can actually go to google, yahoo and others for a very cheap price and have them create the site for you. Including rollovers, flash and anything else you want on your website. But it seems to me that your website would do fine in just plain HTML. I had my small business website in plain HTML and it only cost me $10.00 per month. Start simple and then as your business grows you can always upgrade.
