Does PPC marketing work well for affiliate sites?

Wednesday, June 30th, 2010

I have an affiliate site http://www.cheaperticketprices.com/ and have wanted to try PPC marketing for my event ticket page. (concert tickets, sporting events, plays, etc…) Would PPC marketing pay for itself if I was paid 12% commission per ticket sold?

If you’re just making money from a single sale, then take your commission and divide it by 100. If you can spend that amount or less per a click, then you’ll either be breaking even or making a profit.

How can I get affiliate marketing to work for me?

Wednesday, June 23rd, 2010

I know how affiliate marketing works but I’m a little confused about how to get people to my site. Lets say for example that I want my website to sell golf products (through affiliates). I’ve heard "content is king" but how do I write about golf to put on my site? I think I may be missing the point and any help would be good. Thanks.

To get high organic search engine rankings, you have to add plenty of content on your website with targeted keywords. So add loads of golf-related articles to your website, the search engines count the number of targeted keywords and relevent links on your site, and rank your site based on relevance. The more golf-related keywords and links you have on your site you will achieve higher search engine rankings which should equal more traffic which should equal more sales.

For example, you can add anchor links on your site specifying certain brands. For example say you have a products review page, a link with the anchor text ‘ Buy Tiger Shark Pro 888 18 set golf clubs’ (i just made up pro 888 as a fictional model) would be more relevent than ‘Buy these clubs’. This is keyword targeting, and will drive targeted traffic to your site through the search engines when someones types into the search engines ‘I want to buy 18 set Tiger Shark Pro 888 clubs’, you will receive higher search engine rankings than the standard ‘buy these clubs’ link.

Add plenty of keywords to your website of the exact phrases people might type into search engines when searching for the products you’re selling.

The next step to achieving high rankings is to build links. build plenty of inbound links by submitting your website to good quality web directories with high alexa scores, many are free. Submit your site to at least 400 directories by hand (don’t use automated software because you might get penalised) just stick to 10 a day. But the best way is to ask golf related websites (preferably not ones selling the same products as you) already with high google rankings to link to your site with a reciprocal link from your site. Doing this will increase your google search engine rankings.

More targeted keywords + More links = Higher search engine rankings = More traffic = More Sales

If you got some money to spend, you can drive traffic to your site with Pay-Per-Click such as Google Adwords, or Facebook Advertising. Although you will get traffic instantaneously, it can be very expensive and maybe not worth it unless you do a bit of research and educate yourself on PPC.

Try to have at least 10 pages on your website, and you want visitors to stay as long as possible on your site to be successful. You could add articles like ‘beginner’s guide to starting golf’, ‘How to improve your swing’, ‘The best golf courses in the UK’, ‘nightmare golf holidays – a personal experience’ etc, etc. Then you could have a Products Review site with recommended golf clubs to buy etc etc. Add videos etc etc. Content is King. And throughout your site you could chuck in your affiliate links here and there but not bombard the page with them because the search engines might penalize this. And add a few affiliate linked banners.

It takes several months for the search engines to fully index your site, so add content submit to search engines and directories and just be patient. Once you’re receiving 100s of visitors a day, you should start making some sales!

How many products should I try to promote using affiliate marketing?

Monday, June 21st, 2010

I’m new to the whole idea of affiliate marketing but I get the concept. I was just wondering how many products I should try to promote on my website and how I should go about promoting them. I’ve read of people saying that new people should only promote a few products but then my website would only be a couple pages? Any comments/ help would be good thank you.

Just to keep it simple to start off with I would do no more than 11 items and try to keep affiliate banner links to a minimum of 2 or 3 and be sure to space them apart from each other otherwise your site looks like a billboard, been there done that and won’t make that mistake again. As far as the number of pages, I would try to keep it to one or two if you can, having a lot of pages doesn’t mean that your site is better. You want to be able to say what you want to say on one page with your links going to the affiliate sites. Don’t be to wordy, keep the word count to a minimum of a thousand. People read 25% slower on their computers then they do reading a book. You can also use a carousel that a certain affiliate provider has to help promote products with a visual picture and price of the product and you can have 10 items on that 1 carousel.

As far as promoting the product, write article and submit them to the myriad of article submission sites just make the article informative, something that people want to read. Then put your link to your site in the source box. You can also do you tube videos about products, Face book for business is good, even twitter now is a big thing. You can also go to forums to get people to your site.

If you want to start out with no cost use a blog as a website and put your affiliate links on it. You need to make sure you have word content on the blog or you will eventually get shut down. It’s free to use and there’s no hosting or domain name fees and you can put a tracking code in the blog just like a website to keep track of traffic to see how many hits you are getting. I do this myself with blogs, and it’s nice to not have to worry about money going out for different things. You also want to put out as many sites as you can just having 1 site is not good, multiple sites increases your chances of making money.

Pay Per Click newbie? Please Inform me.?

Sunday, June 20th, 2010

I would love to get into affiliate marketing and have heard a lot about PPC. From my understanding it can be very profitable but can also destroy your pocketbook. I was thinking about hiring a ppc marketing firm. I have a list of the top 20 companies. What do you think (those of you who have experience in ppc) about using this approach as a newbie?

I have a product I have given to a PPC firm to push. PPC marketing can be very profitable if you have a niche product or run offline media. Most affiliate programs do not allow PPC (the quality ones at least). I am currently running TV and Radio which clearly give me a lift in my PPC campaign.

clickbank affiliate program search?

Sunday, June 6th, 2010

I am looking for one or more affiliate program from clickbank who can provide me keywords, landing pages, squeeze pages, autoresponder messages, follow up messages etc. to help me creating ppc campaigns. Can anybody help me in finding those programs from clickbank?

When you go into the marketplace at Clickbank, look for the little icons under the merchant’s listing. If there is one that looks like a light or two crossed tools, then most likely that merchant has what you are looking for.

I’m giving you a link to one page in Clickbank, scroll to the bottom of the page and you will see the merchant ‘Stock Assault", look under their information. They have the icons that show you they have all kinds of tools you can use as their affiliate. I’m not promoting them or telling you to promote them either, they were just the first merchant with the icons I wanted you to notice:)
